Austin Davis, the mechanic behind the advice website Trust My Mechanic, recommends changing Mobil 1 synthetic oil more frequently than necessary. Davis recommends changing oil at least every 7,500 miles, as this frequency helps remove impurities that may have found their way into the oil. The more frequent changes, Davis points out, also give mechanics an opportunity to inspect the vehicle for other developing problems.
Though the manufacturer recommends changing Mobil 1 synthetic oil every 15,000 miles, drivers who change the oil at 7,500 miles may stand a greater likelihood of catching problems before they develop.
