Changing the oil filter on your Suzuki automobile is essential for the smooth operation of the vehicle's engine. The filter, as the name suggests, filters out contaminates in the oil and helps to retain the oil's viscosity so that it can effectively lubricate critical engine components. When you change your oil, every 3,000 to 5,000 miles, you'll need to replace the oil filter.
Raise the front of the Suzuki onto jack stands. Lift up on the front jack point using a floor jack. Place a jack stand under each of the front pinch welds of the vehicle and lower the vehicle onto the stands.
Climb under the vehicle and place the catch pan underneath the oil pan (directly under the engine).
Remove the oil pan drain bolt on the bottom of the oil pan and allow the oil to drain into the catch pan. You must drain the oil before removing the oil filter to avoid making a mess while removing the filter element.
Grab the oil filter with one hand and turn it counterclockwise to remove it. The filter is located directly above the oil pan on the back of the engine block.
