The Best Rated Small Truck Tires

Regardless of brand, light trucks and sports utility vehicles sell nearly as many product units annually as sedans. With this much activity, tire manufacturers are highly tuned to the public's tastes and economic interests. As a result, Consumer Search conducts an annual survey of the best vehicle products based on categories ranging from sedans to light truck/SUVs, in addition to related aftermarket or recurrent replacement products.

General Grabber HTS

  • The Consumer Search survey ranks the General Grabber HTS first among the top 10 light truck tires for 2009. The HTS was given high marks for its service life, quiet ride, resistance to all-weather changes and its reasonable cost. The unit is priced at $95.

Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza

  • Bridgestone's Dueler was ranked second in the survey. This tire jumps up in price range at $120, and although its performance was acceptable, it did tend to lose grip when dealing with climatic changes. This condition was particularly obvious when wet weather was in the offing.

Continental ContiCrossContact LX

  • The Continental LX was very close in performance overall and compared well with Bridgestone's offer. In the end of the day the Continental was ranked a close-third. The product is priced below Dueler at $105; however, the tire tended to lose grip when dealing with icing conditions.
