It seems everyone from Jeep guys to Suzuki owners has been cutting up their fenders and losing the location of their current turn signals. But if you're gonna keep on the friendly side of Johnny Law you need to have the signals up front to warn oncoming drivers of your intentions. While paging through a Rod & Custom magazine the other day we found these AutoNik headlights with built-in LED turn signals from Chevs of the 40's, and instantly knew they were perfect for the 4x4 market.

We had these swapped into our Samurai in under an hour, and they worked flawlessly. Whether you are making your TJ into a flatfender or building your own buggy, these simple, sturdy lights are the way to simplify things.

PhotosView Slideshow Our '91 Samurai uses round headlights, but when we wanted to go to an aftermarket bumper without remounting the turn signals, we needed another option. The 7-inch round lights from Chevsofthe40s.com have both high and low beams and a small LED turn signal built in. Plus the H4 Halogen bulbs conform to U.S. SAE/DOT requirements, and the sealed beam housing is made of a rugged plastic that should last and hold up fine to both on- and off-road abuse. Since our turn signals had a factory water-resistant plug, we thought it a good idea to keep that attribute. We cut, soldered, and heat-shrunk the wires to the original leads, allowing the lights to be unplugged if need be. We also ordered our lights with an LED turn signal flasher. Be sure to get a proper Digital/LED flasher for your vehicle to make the signal lights bright enough to be seen. Here is another great option for all you Jeep TJ owners who are replacing your fenders with tube fenders and losing your stock turn signals. Rather than taking the knife and cutting up your grille to reinstall your stock turn signals, simply install these replacement bulbs and rewire the signals. Our only complaint? The $180 price tag is a bit rough, but the all-in-one attributes can make it worthwhile, depending on your project.
