John Deere manufactures and provides diesel engines to generate power for farming trucks and tractors, large boats and military vehicles. If you own a John Deere engine you may find it helpful to know what tools are required to maintain the quality of the engine and to perform repairs on the engine when necessary.
To perform maintenance or repairs for the cylinder head, you will need a valve guide knurler kit, a valve seat pilot driver, a valve stem seal adapter and a valve seat installing adapter. Other tools required for work on the cylinder head include a camshaft gear and front oil seal installer set, a camshaft bushing service, an idler gear bushing driver with a handle and a gear timing tool.
Tools for the cylinder block and liners include a timing pin, a piston and cylinder liner height gauge and a piston cleaning kit. In addition to this you will need a ring groove wear gauge, an oil gallery plug tool, seal and wear sleeve installer, seal and wear sleeve remover and an injection pump timing gear puller.
To perform work on the crankshaft main bearing or on the flywheel you will need a flywheel turning tool, flywheel ring gear, a handle with a bushing driver and an oil pressure relief valve bushing driver. In addition to this you will also need a general mechanic's tool kit that includes both automotive maintenance and repair tools and field maintenance tools.
