How to Use Marvel Mystery Oil As a Gas Stabilizer

Marvel Mystery Oil was first developed in the 1920s to keep engine carburetors and fuel systems clean and free of deposits created by heavily leaded gasoline. Though not exclusively marketed as such, Marvel Mystery Oil can be used as a fuel stabilizer and when used on an annual basis will extend the useful life of fuel for one year. The procedure can be repeated as many as five times allowing for an extended fuel storage life of five years. It can also be used as a stabilizer for diesel and bio-diesel fuels in the same manner as gasoline.

Things You'll Need

  • Marvel Mystery Oil
  • Measuring cup
  • Funnel
  • Determine how much fuel is intended to be stabilized with Marvel Mystery Oil (MMO), by formulating the amount based on 4 ounces of MMO for every 10 gallons of gasoline or diesel fuel.

  • Fill the measuring cup with the amount of MMO required for a proper mixture.

  • Remove the cap from the fuel tank or storage container and place the spout of the funnel into the opening. Choose a funnel with a flexible extension spout for recessed fuel tubes and openings.

  • Pour the proper amount of Marvel Mystery Oil from the measuring cup into the funnel. Make certain that all the MMO has entered the fuel tank or storage container before removing funnel.

  • Replace cap on fuel tank or container securely.
