1932 Ford Coupe Custom Framerails Kit

“Build a better mousetrap and the world will beat a path to your door,” as the saying goes. Well, Geoff Mitford Taylor (GMT) of Huntington Beach is betting that the rodding world will recognize a better mousetrap in the form of its ’32 Ford chassis with recessed framerails. The new framerail is substantially stronger—and for those who want strength as well as organization and simplicity, the recessed feature offers the best of both worlds.

A patent-pending design is at the heart of this better chassis, which has slightly modified American Stamping framerails. There is a recessed channel in the inner surface of the rail with a cover panel to hide any wiring, fuel lines, or brake lines from sight. In addition, the recessed channel corners, welded into the inner surface, actually increase the rigidity of the rail by effectively boxing it. This is a common engineering technique for strengthening a panel, truss, or lever.

The chassis is priced competitively at approximately $2,000 for the * framerails and tubular crossmembers. It can also be purchased from GMT with front and rear suspension, steering, and spreader bar in place. The Deuce Factory and So-Cal Speed Shop provide the suspension parts. If you already own a set of Deuce rails and would like to recess the inner rails, GMT offers a kit for $400.

In addition to the chassis package, GMT is the West Coast distributor for a reproduction ’32 Ford Tudor body from Deuce Customs of Australia. The 2-½-inch chopped sedan body is made of steel-reinforced fiberglass and comes with a steel floor in the front passenger section. Other features include hidden hinges, internal window garnishes, inside and outside door handles, theft-proof door locks, window winder mechanisms and channels, a dashboard, built-in steering mount, patterns for door glass, and excellent door gaps. The body also has a gray gelcoat finish that’s of excellent quality.

GMT also offers fiberglass Deuce front fenders, running boards, fuel tank covers, grille shells, rear horn covers, and rear roll pans, as well as quality metalwork and fabrication services.
