Installing New Port Engineering’s Clean Wipe Wiper Drive for a 1966-1967 Chevelle

Whether your 1966 or 1967 Chevelle is Pro-Touring, Pro-Street, or Pro-Commuter, the stock electric wiper motor is nearly 50 years old. Not that 50 is old, but for a windshield wiper motor that was not of the best design in the first place, it may be time for a replacement. Sure, you could have that old motor rebuilt, but it will most likely cost you more than the price of a new replacement from New Port Engineering.

The Clean Wipe Wiper Drive, New Port Engineering includes a new heavy duty, two-speed, self-parking motor that is smaller and more powerful than the original or a rebuilt stock unit. Standard features include a two-speed switch and wiring harness, while an intermittent delay switch, washer pump kit, and a switch conversion kit, designed to work with the original knob and bezel, are optional.

Installation is extremely easy as this is a direct bolt-in replacement. Follow along as we install the Clean Wipe Wiper Drive in a 1966 Chevelle. After the motor is installed and the wiring connected, run the motor on low speed to verify that the wiper transmission linkage arms do not bind. When that checks out accordingly, install the wiper arms and blades. Spray a bit of water or windshield washer fluid onto the windshield (to prevent scratching) and then start and run the wiper through several complete cycles. Adjust the location of the wiper arms on their respective transmissions if necessary and your Clean Wipe Wiper Drive is now ready for operation.
