I have come to the conclusion that there is a major rift for lack of a better word, in the aftermarket industry between those with 4-6 pistons and those with 8 pistons. While rivalry is a good thing and makes people try harder to upstage the other, there is a bad side and I'm beginning to notice it more and more with every mag I pick up. I am a subscriber to the glories known as Super Street and love imports. I am also the owner of a 2003 Mustang Mach-1 and read Muscle Mustang. That's where I noticed the "rift." In SS I've noticed V8 owners writing in and putting down imports, which in my opinion is very very uncool. I have a lot of respect for imports (Not Rice Burners., i.e. fartcan exhaust tips and big wings do not a import make.) I have a friend here in this lil' out of the way town that I live in who owns a real deal complete RHD JDM 180 painted flat black who got me into drifting. He and I have the same outlook which is - you can't claim to be a car enthusiast and not like all cars. I have another friend who owns a 1992 notch-back Mustang and he absolutely hates imports and I have tried and tried to make that point with him but he wont accept it. But don't think that it's just the V8 owners hatin' on the imports. I've read through some V8 mags and come across the same thing, import owners writing in and putting down V8s. People need to know and understand that if we took all the B.S. and trash talk and applied that energy to helping each other in OUR aftermarket industry we could do more of the things that others (mostly the people doing the trash talking) say can't be done. I know somewhere out there is a person trying to figure out how their going to swap a 572 Chevy big block into their new EVOX, STI, R35 or maybe just a Honda head trying do some thing new. I also know for a fact that there are some V8 owners who keep blowing turbos cause the idiot at the quick lube really doesn't know how to tune your motor (even though he says,"Yea man I've done this 100s of times" doesn't make it true) and they are too proud to ask the guy with a SR20 that he double-snailed and tuned himself to help. I know this probably won't make it in an issue and this seems like just a soapbox rant but I had to get it off my chest and let you REAL car enthusiasts know that not all guys with V8's are total jackoffs.Keith RameyVia the Internet
While we aren't positive anyone is looking to put a big block in their Evo, we certainly agree on the fact that there is more than one way to skin a cat, or rather build a car. As a matter of fact every staff member on Super Street has experience and interest in all types of cars, be it German, British, American or what have you, at the end of a day a nice car is a nice car. Here's to you Keith, for not being a "total jackoff"!

Word Of Hmong, Pt. Deux
I just got done reading the April `09 issue, the first one I got for my subscription. I have been in the car world my whole life and just recently started reading tuner magazines (it's been maybe a year now). I have read other Super Street issues before so this wasn't my first, but throughout the issues I have noticed a few things. One is the lack of information on the engines and the modifications to the internal components for example, the articles just tell you what kind of piston or connecting rod was used, what about the compression ratio of the piston? Or how much horsepower the connecting rod supports? The articles need more technical information if you ask me. Two is the cheesy and horrible intros to articles, most of them have nothing to do with the car involved. For example, going into detail about the streets of Vegas, talking about masturbating, not getting laid and so on. I could give two shits less about any of that, the reason I read these kind of magazines is for the cars and information. I think you guys should consider these problems when writing your articles because they're steering me away from Super Street and there are many other import mags out there and I would like to continue reading SS, but man this last April `09 issue kinda' sucked. I feel you guys need to hear this so you can improve the magazine and make it better. And I think I read something about the Hmong race in more than one article and it wasn't really anything good about it. Whats up with that? I know I have bashed your magazine, but I'm only doing it so you can improve on it.

After reading your letter it sounds like we can easily fix your issues with our magazine - simply read the name of the author before you start an article and skip everything written by Roel Concepcion; we think you'll be much happier that way.
"Bone" Thug
Hey nutsacks, send me free stuff! Nah, but seriously, I got a "bone" to pick with you guys. I am a recent subscriber to Super Street and have been a fan of the magazine for years. Every issue I have read (yes I actually read your stupid, sick and perverted comments) has been awesome. My only "bone" to pick with you is that you show cars with $50K plus into them at least! Why not show cars that are for your everyday Joe in a full feature and not just the Reader's Rides section? An average Joe who has spent maybe $5K in the car to show people that you can have a great car and not spend buttloads of $$$ to get it there. Now I know Project Car shows this in their features. Oops maybe I shouldn't mention that magazine since the July/Aug 2008 Issue #7 shows JDM Wong getting spanked not once but twice by a D16A6 Turbo vs. his B16A2 (please don't find me Mr. Wong. I don't want you to come and WD-40 my door hinges, creep into my bedroom and strangle me as I sleep since I mentioned this). Please take this into consideration as you look to see which weapon you wish to use to kill me with.

Well Jake the answer is quite simple - there's already a magazine out there that features those types of cars - it's called Auto Trader.
Way Better Than Those Other Mags
For starters of course the cliche' "the magazine is great". I'm a 17-year-old reader (yet another cliche'), who's looking into buying a car (oh looky, another!), and getting into the drift world (apparently, I'm the Cliche' King). Oh... and I'm going to be the best. So, when I'm there, remember that you were the first to know. I just wanted to write in and tell you all how much I appreciate your magazine, and the insight that it provides me with. I've been a reader since `05, and even in all of the moving I've done, I haven't missed an issue. My infatuation/addiction had me stealing the magazines from my friends! I've got a pretty extensive collection, all in great condition, though that's beside the point. There was really no point to this letter, except to award you all the well deserved gratitude that you probably don't deserve on a daily basis, because of the dickheads in black suits breathing down your neck. Good job guys. I have had subscriptions to just about every import tuner magazine there is... Import Tuner, Modified Mag and DSport- and yours is the only one that stuck. One thing I do remember wanting to say though, was I was pissed off about the guy who won LOTM in the March `09 issue, because he said something about Modified Mag having a 3K in it. If you aren't satisfied with SS as it is, pick up another magazine. You guys shouldn't change a thing.

Joshua the feeling's mutual. We know SS is the best, but we wouldn't be without the support from dedicated readers like your self. You know you can still keep your subscription to those other mags though - just use their pages for TP when you're enjoying ours!

I'm a new subscriber, but a long time reader. I was reading your May '09 issue and I came across page 72. That FD is BEAUTIFUL! I drive a '93 myself and I'd like to get some info on that amazing machine. I'll take all the info you can get me, If you can include pictures or even a web address where that car can be found, it would be very much appreciated. I'm not trying to to get my letter published, I'd just like info to help my quest to build my FD. Here are the main parts I'd like info on (but anything will help).* The body kit* The taillight carbon cover* The rear diffuser

We hate to blow it for you but we decided to go ahead and publish your letter. As far as FDs go, the Super Autobacs car is about the sexiest one we've ever seen. Fortunately for you and anyone else reading this, you can get your fix of the car on our website (www.superstreetonline.com/featuredvehicles/130_0705_super_autobacs_1998_mazda_rx7/index.html). It was originally featured in our May '07 issue. All of the parts you are asking about are from the legendary rotary tuner RE Amemiya. And just for good measure we decided to throw in one more pic of this beast!
Boom-Roasted AKA WTF Mate In C MinorUm. I'm not sure where to begin. I was just reading through your May `09 issue when I saw "3000GT" in the mailsack part. Being a 3000GT owner myself I started to read. Then I saw something that just made me say "WTF". In response to a letter about a guy and his 3s you said "did you read what Jeremy just said about your beloved DSM!?" 3000GTs ARE NOT DSM!!! DSMs were made in Illinois. 3000GTs were ALL built in Japan. The Dodge Stealth (which is mechanically the same) was sold by Chrysler. But it still is not a DSM. Eclipses, Talons and Lasers are DSM. 3000GTs ARE NOT. I'll still keep reading Super Street though.
