2009 Dodge Ram - Project Lead Sled

Shocks are the brains of a truck’s suspension, yet we oftentimes compromise quality for the mindset of “give me whatever will fit and is the cheapest.” Even worse, you don’t even have shocks on your airbagged truck because you think you don’t need them. Then, we drive and complain for thousands of miles in a truck bouncing around like a horse-drawn wagon crossing the desert. After spending a pretty penny on a custom suspension, big wheels, and new tires, there’s no excuse for skimping on cheap, ineffective shocks. On our own Project Lead Sled, an ’09 Ram we drive every day, we were suffering from poor ride quality and handling due to poor shock performance. Whereas we loved the custom air suspension professionally installed by the team at Ekstensive Metalworks, in Houston, we desperately needed to find upgraded shocks to make the most of the adjustable ride height.
"Get Rid of the Lowered Truck Bounce"
Thankfully, the suspension gurus at Ride Tech have partnered with the shock pros at Fox Racing Shocks to develop two lines of quality shocks designed to improve both ride quality and handling. With a large monotube design, the smooth body shocks feature ½-inch hardened shafts, internal bumpstop, and billet endcaps to prevent seal damage. Available in two different series, the RQ line is non-adjustable and tuned for optimum ride quality, while the HQ line of shocks allows the user to adjust rebound for a dialed-in ride aimed towards more performance handling. For our custom applications, we simply matched our old shocks’ dimension to those of Ride Tech’s RQ line. If you want to make your lowered or airbagged truck ride and handle better, a shock upgrade is an easy and relatively inexpensive upgrade you need to make.
