Eventually, diesel (and some gasoline) truck owners will be in the market for a new turbocharger. Hopefully, they are shopping for one because they are in search of more power and not simply replacing a worn-out one. The amount of power a diesel engine makes is directly proportional to the amount of fuel injected into the cylinder. That fuel requires adequate air for complete combustion. As more fuel is added-from chips or tunes-additional air needs to be added, too. A stock turbocharger can handle moderate fuel increases, but when the modifications get more serious, a bigger turbocharger is a must-have to complement fuel increase.
