Auto Insurance Claims: Policy Limits/UIM What really goes on, doctors notes, enormous speed

Question
Accident happens in Maryland.  I am a passenger riding in a taxi that gets rear-ended at enormous speed.  I have three questions. Let's say my claim is worth $300K. Taxi driver is not at fault.   The at-fault driver insurance company policy limit is $100K.  #1 What is the process for submitting claim to my insurance company for my Underinsured Motorist limits $100K.  What will they want to see to justify paying the UIM. #2 What is the process for submitting claim to the insurance company of the taxi that I was passenger in for his Underinsured Motorist Limit. coverage. $50K  #3  What if all three of these tortfeasers still do not gleen enough to cover the $300K.  What, if any, are my options.#4  Approximately How long will it take to get monies from all three sources.

Answer
Hi Vanessa,

This will be a very lenghth and difficult process. You will ed to notify in writing each insurance company that you intend to file a claim and for how much in total. If all oyour treatment is completed you will need to develope a demand package. HIS package should contain all medical records, medical bills, doctors notes, proof of any lost wages, etc. In your demand letter you will need to outline what you are seeeking in terms of dollars and why.

You can check out a website that will be able to help you with all of this called www.collisionwizard.com .

If at any point you feel overwhelmed it may be time to speak with an attorney. These types of claims can be very tricky. You need to know how to coordinate all 3 insurance companies.

I hope this helps
