Auto Insurance Claims: Car Vandalized, euo, nothing to fear

Question
My car was vandalized about a month ago. The insurance company told me it was going to investigated b/c I did not file a police report. I did not file a police report b/c nothing was stolen out of my car. I didn’t think it was necessary. The insurance company told me they where going to do an examination under oath. The claim is only for $1,200.00. I really don’t want to be questioned for 3 or 4 hours. What happens if I deny doing the EUO? Is there a minimum for the EUO and I am paying a $500 deductible?

Answer
Hi Tasha,

The purpose of the EUO is to make you sweat. They will try to get you to say something that will let them deny your claim. To do this they may even saay things like; did you have your vehicle vandalized just to get some money, if you did we will prosecute you.

They are just trying to weed out the people who do things like that. If you did not then you have nothing to fear. And the size of the claim does not matter.

I hope this helps
