Auto Insurance Claims: accident. NOT AT FAULT!!, collision coverage, anyhting

Question
QUESTION: i just was in an accident. i was pulling away from a gas pump to pull out of the gas station. i passed one entrance to get to another as this older lady was pulling into the gas station at the entrance i was passing. i saw her and tried to turn the opposite direction, but she still proceeded to hit me. it looked as if she didn't even see me she was focused and was looking straight ahead when she hit me. the damage is done on the front right fender and partially the front bumper. i do not have collision. will my insurance still cover it if i am not at fault, or will hers?

ANSWER: Hi Dillon,

If you do not have collision coverage, your insurance comapny will not pay for your damage. You must contact the insurance comapny of the at-fault person and file a claim.

I hope this helps

Answer
Hi Dillon,

If the police responded to the scene of the accident and wrote a police report, then you would need to go to the police station that wrote the report and obtain a copy of the report. That report should contain all of the other drivers information including the name of their insurance company. Then you can call them to file your claim.

If there was no police report and you did not obtain the other drivers information at the scene, then you are pretty much on your own.

I hope this helps
