Auto Insurance Claims: PI, PI

Question
1.) If I file a PI claim against a drive that hit me, how does their insurance company know whom to contact to get my medical records etc.?

2.)  And, don't they need a release from me to do so?

3.)  And, does this release give them permission to get info. from my disability insurance people as well (I am disabled since before my accident)?

thanks a lot
Ema

Answer
Hello Ema,

1.) you have to tell them

2.) Yes, you tell them in a release for records

3.) Probably. You have to look at the exact language of the release for records. They can ask for all your medical records and you can see if you can limit them. Again, it depends on the language and what you sign.

As always, consult with a local attorney before you make any decisions on your claim. To find an attorney near you, please see:
