Auto Insurance Claims: fender bender, statute of limitation, statute of limitations

Hi. I backed into a a persons car. minor damage. I gave her my number and told her to get a hold of me the next day an we could figure it out. Then she never gets back with me till 6 days later. Is there a time period in which someone has to file claim against the other?

Hi Steven,

The time limit to file a claim would be the same as the statute of limitation in your state. In most states the statute of limitations for property damage is at least 2 years. Sorry, you don't get out of this one just because she waited 6 days.
