Chrysler Repair: Transmission re-wiring: Installing 96 in place of 95 ETAX, automatic transmissions, etax

Question
I took the tranny out of a 96 sebring. Both cars are the lx coupe 2.5 liter v-6. And there automatic transmissions

Answer
Question History:
I have a 95 Sebring with a separate park to neutral switch. Well the tranny went bad so I bought one with the combined switches. A lot of people say I will be able to convert it by cutting the connectors off the wires and outing the combined connector on the cut wires. Will this work?

Hi Kenny,
I believe you will find that the replacement transmission has a single 10-pin plug which has 9 wires (and which I hope that you have available so that you can see which color wires are on which pins).
The two switches for the '95 have 7 wires so you will be not using a couple of the wires on the 10-pin plug which actually don't have a way to connect to your tcm, and in any case the '95 tcm won't know what to do with signal even if you tried to connect those extra wires to it.
So look over what wire colors you have and let me know if you agree and then we can see how it will patch together. I hope it will work out OK but no guarantees. If it won't work you might get away with it if you used the '96 tcm instead of your '95 but there may be some issues there too in mating the tcm to pcm (I would have to study that question). So begin by matching up the wires and let me know the results, and we'll compare that to the wiring diagrams that I have.
