Auto Insurance Claims: rear end damages, cosmetic damages, certified mail

Question
I was involved in a rear end accident on9/09. The insurance company was very quick to send a check for minor cosmetic damages to my rear bumper and to repair exhaust system (displaced during accident). I found that when i received my car back there was suspension damage which they refuse to repair. The car was returned making rattling noises underneath and did not have this problem before accident. How can i get them to repair this??

Answer
I assume the insurance company you are dealing with is the liability carrier for the other party. If so, you should send them a letter by certified mail with a cc to their policyholder that you demand that they pay the cost of repair of the damages caused by their insured. In the absence of payment, you will take legal action against their policyholder.
