Auto Insurance Claims: Step-son got a DUI in our Company Truck, auto insurance info, fleet auto

Question
My step son received a DUI last night while driving our company vehicle insured on a fleet auto policy. If he gave the auto insurance info to the police officer, will our insurance company find out that he had a DUI in a company vehicle? He did not have permission to be driving it. Will it matter to our insurance company that he did not have permission to be driving and that we didn't know he had the truck?
Thank You!

Answer
Hi Laura,

If there was no accident involved that would triger an insurance claim, there is no reason for your insurance company to find out since no one will be making a claim.

Your step-son should be informed specifically that he does not have permission to use your company vehicles. You should also tell him that if he did, there would be no insurance coverage which could open you up to hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars in liability.

Then smack him in the back of the head.

I hope this helps
