Auto Insurance Claims: Titleing, duplicate title, state dmv

Question
I traded cars with someone and when we were filling out the title the seller filled in the application for certificate of title and we were told [ us the buyer ] were suppose to fill that out. We filled in the spot that says Assignment of ownership & So fourth. We have a bill of sale from the seller and it has been notarized. So to get the title transfered to our name do we have to have the seller request a new title or can we since we do have a bill of sale and our name is on the title just in the incorrect spot? BTW its an Ohio title and we would be transferring to our state West Virginia.

Sorry I know this doesn't really go with your category.

Answer
Hi Cody,

I'm sorry to say that I have no idea. The only way to get a correct answer on this question is to contact your state DMV. In most states, if there is an error made on a title, the only way to get it corrected is to request a duplicate title. Then start over. But call your state DMV for a correct answer.

I hope this helps
