Auto Insurance Claims: Two Qs, contributory negligence, information number

Question
The police did not write an accident report but driver exchange of information after the auto accident and then gave me a copy. My insurance asked me about the driver exchange of information number and probably will determine the fault by contacting the other car insurance. I have two questions.

1) I wonder why my insurance did not want to get a copy from me? Will the insurance order a copy of the driver exchange of information from the police department directly?
2) Do you know how much time both of insurance will usually take to get the determination of the fault and whether both of drivers/insurance must comply with the determination?

Can you answer my two questions above? Thank you.

Answer
Hello ack,

1) That sounds reasonable.  If they are unable to obtain the info
  they will call you.

2) Generally 30+ days, but it could be more protracted if they
have trouble agreeing on the percentage of contributory
  negligence against each driver.

If you carry collision, I reccommend that you go ahead and have
your company repair your vehicle.
