Auto Insurance Claims: uninsured motorist property damage liability, uninsured motorist coverage, auto insurance company

Question
Hi Richard,

I have a question about uninsured motorist property damage liability limit.

I am thinking to switch my auto insurance company and got a quote from a company. My former company gave me $100,000 liability limit, but the new company says they offer only $10,000.  Since I don't have collision coverage (I don't need this), $10,000 limit seems to be too small.  What do you think?  Should I choose the company who offer $100,000 limit? Or, $10,000 limit is just enough for me?  Please kindly tell me your opinion.  I don't know what to do.  Thank you for your time.

Answer
Hi Tamara,

If you are talking about Uninsured Motorist coverage which would be coverage for your vehicle if you are hit by an uninsured person and the value of your vehicle is below $10,000.00 then the $10,000.00 coverage limit would be fine.

However, your regular property damage liability coverage for damage thay you may cause to someone else's property should be at least $50,000.00.

I hope this helps
