Auto Insurance Claims: Permissive user, one brain, priveledge

Question
Can a minor living in the home give permission to another minor friend to drive their parents car and qualify as a "permissive user"?  I wouldn't think a minor could do that.

Answer
Hi Jim,

Yes one brain damaged teenager can give permission to another brain damaged teenager and both will think they have done nothing wrong. Nothing personal I just think all teenagers ar a little brain damaged. I know I was.

Anyway, as long as your minor is licensed, listed on your policy as a driver and has your permission to access and use the vehicle then there should be no issues. You did not indicate if an incident had occured, so if not you should take the time to call your insurance agent just to be sure. Or tell your minor that if they do give permission to anyone else to drive your car that they will lose the priveledge to drive for 1 year. That may make them think twice.

I hope this helps
