Auto Insurance Claims: Hit & Run, orange crayon, own insurance

Question
My boyfriend is an employee at a large corporate owned funeral home.  Yesterday after finishing work he went outside to see his BMW was hit on the driver's side.  There was an orange crayon-like paint left behind, the driver side headlight was cracked, and there was dent damage on the bumper.  There was no note left.  During the day there were about 80+ cars in the lot for a wake.  My question revolves around the liability to the corporation's insurance.  Who is liable (besides the guy who hit him)? any liability?  It is the company's lo.

Answer
Hi Heather,

Unfortunately, the employer is not liable. The employer did not do anything that caused the damage to your boyfriends vehicle, which would have to be the case for them to be held liable.

This is a typical hit & run situation. Your boyfriend will just have to make a claim on his own insurance policy or if he does not have collision coverage, will have to pay for the repairs himself.

I hope this helps
