Auto Insurance Claims: Medical coverage, medical payments coverage, insurance comapny

Question
Hello,
I was in an accident where I recieved injury to my back legs and left arm. I have a question, the insurance company contacted me and told me the coverage that their client had was 12,500 and this is not enough for my bills that I owe to hospitals and therapy. They sent me a letter stating his coverage which verified the minimum coverage of 12,500 but it also had an coverage for medical bills which said 1,000 per person. Am I entitled to this as well as the 12,500?

Answer
Hi Ryan,

It sounds like the $1,000.00 would be from the "Medical Payments" coverage. This is usually a coverage that only pays for minor injuries in your own car. So in this case it seems that it would not cover you unless you were a passenger in the at-fault drivers car. If that is the case then yes you would be entitled to that as well.

You should also check with your own auto insurance comapny if you have one to see if there is any coverage available there.

I hope this helps
