Auto Insurance Claims: total loss, alpine stereo, life span

Question
My 2006 f150 was stolen then recovered burned, my insurance totaled the vehicle,,, my questions is when I purchased the truck I installed a complete alpine stereo which included radio, cd changer, tv, dvd, 2 amplifiers, 4 speakers, subwoofer box, dual exhaust, cold intake, etc. is my insurance company supposed to pay me for these items, the total was around 7500

Answer
Hi Carlos,
In a situation like this, it all depends on the legal wording of your policy.
All policies cover such equipment such as you list if it was factory installed.  They would all be subject to depreciation, just like your truck has depreciated but at a more rapid rate because of their shorter life span.
A lot of policies are very specifically worded in such a manner that non-factory equipment be listed and an extra premium paid.
You will need to talk to your agent and the claims adjuster to learn how non-factory equipment is covered by your company.

I hope that you find this information to be of help.

Your feedback by rating my answer will be appreciated.
