Auto Insurance Claims: Parking lot accident, parking lot accident, parking space

Question
I was recently in a small accident in a parking lot in PA.  I was reversing down an aisle to back up for a parking spot I had just passed, and backed into another car who was backing out of their parking space.  I was unsure if this was totally my fault or if both parties were at fault.  Thank you for your help.

Hi Richard,

If the lane you were traveling in the parking lot was one way, then the other driver had no expectation that someone would be backing from that direction so it would be your fault. If the lane was for two way traffic then it would likely be considered to be 50/50 liability.
