Auto Insurance Claims: Auto Theft/Insurance Practices, infiniti g35 coupe, infiniti g35

Question
My car was stolen on October 12th of this year and recovered 8 days later.  It has exterior damage assessed by the insurance company’s appraiser.  No internal assessment has been made yet.  My policy covers a rental for up to $900(approx a month).  The problem is that the insurance company is dragging its feet in the assessment of this vehicle.  I had the care released to the insurance company on the 21st of October.  It took them a week to have it transferred to their salvage yard, 2 more days for the estimate, 8 days to get it transferred to a dealership, and now the dealership is waiting on the keys from the adjustor.  Meanwhile, I have exceeded the 900, so I am without a car, and I still have not been given an idea of when my Infiniti G35 coupe can or will be fixed.  Is there anything I can do to get the insurance company to actually take care of me?  Would I have a case if I got a lawyer for a bad faith claim?  I am afraid the car will not be as nice as when I last saw it, and am afraid to even get it back.  Do I have any other option?

Answer
Hi Joshua,

Don't even bother trying to find an attorney because none of them will take the case.

Even though your vehicle was recovered, it is still considered a theft claim. In most states an insurance company has 60 days to investigate and make a determination if the claim is covered and if the vehicle is repairable.

You can try to contact the adjuster manager to try to put some preasure to get this resolved sooner. Unfortunately there is not much else you can do except make a lot of noise and hope you get the grease.

I hope this helps
