Toyota Repair: transmission?, spark plug wires, camery

Question
I have a 1988 Camery that stalls a lot but starts up again fairly well, but does this a lot in reverse.  It idles very poorly in drive.  It shakes like crazy when it has to idle, sometimes stalls - I usually pump the brakes very slowly to avoid a full stop if I can.  It has to be really babied from stop position.  Still shaking like crazy (the entire car) it will usually keep going if I ease into the gas slowly.   The transmission shifts itself like a manual, though it is an automatic.  It bucks like a horse.  It is leaking something, but I have checked oil, trans, and brake fluids.  All are fine an nothing seems to be depleating.  It is leaking underneath, - the engine is clean.  My neighbor says it's pw steering fluid, but it drives ok. It is reddish brown and smells to me like oil. The only time it runs ok is on long hwy stretches.  HELP!

Answer
your shaking problem sounds like a misfire. which would also cause an erratic shift. start pulling spark plug wires with the engine running and one by one see which one when pulled has no effect on the engine(that is the misfiring cylinder). inspect the plug in that cylinder. or just replace all the plugs. let me know how u do
