Auto Insurance Claims: stolen vehicle with salvage title, salvage title, dirt road

Question
i had bought a vehicle back in january that had a salvage title but was rebuilt and in perfect condition. I got the vehicle with a loan and have full comprehensive coverage on it. Recently when i was out of town it was stolen out of a parking area where i left it for the night. I contacted the police and made a statement and also contacted my insurance company. The vehicle was found a few days later stripped and totaled  in a ditch on a dirt road. My insurance company said that they are contacting an investigation team to go over the theft. Will i be covered. How could i have something to do with this. I was out of town and was able to give them proof of where i was? please help me with any information possible. thanks

Answer
Hi Paul.

This is standard procedure in any theft claim. The insurance company always assumes that the owner may have had something to do with the theft. The will be going through investigation procedures to rule you out as a suspect. They may require that you allow them acces to your financial records, credit reports, etc. They may require you to submit to an examination under oath (EUO). If you had nothing to do with the theft then there is nothing to worry about. As I sad, it is standad procedure. The insurance company has 60 days to complete their investigation, then they have to either pay or deny the claim.

I hope this helps
