Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Noma 1540, safety switches, question pool

Question
took the noma out of winter mothballs.  it cranked for a while then started.  it died i cranked again and it started.  it died again but because one of my safety shutoffs is sticking. perhaps the one under the seat.  i will deal with that later....  but, now all i get is a loud click from the solenoid.  the starter is not turning.  i replaced the battery, checked the connections at the solenoid, and jumped the solenoid with a screwdriver to see if the starter would turn (it did not).

generally when i turn my key to engage the starter, i get another light on my dash.  as it stands only one light comes on.  i may have a faulty ignition switch but don't know for sure.

Answer
Hello Tim:

Sorry for the Delay. This Question was Located in the Question Pool. Send me the Model Numbers Off the Mower, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. From your Description it Sounds like the Fuse has Blown and the Carburetor Requires Soaking and Cleaning. If the Engine was Starting at All, then thee Safety Switches are OK. The Engine was Shutting Off Due to Lack of Fuel. Usually this is Caused by the Carburetor Float Needle Not Opening Correctly and Restricting Fuel to the Carburetor. I acn Assist More with the Model Numbers. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck

Hello again Tim:

Thanks for the Ratings and Comments. That was a Lucky Find on that 20hp Engine Too.  That would be the Seat Safety you are having trouble with. **Check the Seat Safety Switch. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHECKING THE SAFETY SWITCHES IS JUST THAT!!! FOR CHECKING ONLY. I NEVER Suggest a Mower be Operated with a Safety Device or Switch Disconnected or Bypassed. Now. On Some Model Mowers you can Simply Unplug the Safety Switch from the Harness. On Other Models you have to Place a Jumper Wire Between the Harness Terminals (on the 4 Post Switch Jumper from Same Color Wire to Same Color Wire). The Seat Safety is Showing No One is Seating in the Seat when the Clutch or Blades are Engaged.**  Till Next Time. May All Your Mechanical Problems be SMALL ONES and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks Again.

Best Wishes and Good Luck
