Auto Insurance Claims: replace frame 2007 chev, uninsured driver, progressive insurance

Question
I was in an accident. Other uninsured driver ran red light and hit the front of my 2007 silverado with only 1700 miles on it. The frame is bent and there is exensive damage to the front and side. My progressive insurance is trying to force me to accept a new frame and repair. Also what about diminished value if I do this

Answer
Hi Bill,
I think there might be a slight misunderstanding.  I have never heard of a body shop replacing a frame.  There are many shops that have state of the art, high-tech machines to straighten the frame.  Perhaps this is what is being discussed.

You don't have to deal with Progressive if the at fault party had insurance, you can deal directly with the adverse insurance company.

You can only collect diminished value from your own company if you are a resident of the state of Georgia and your policy is issued by a company licensed to do business in Georgia.

Considering the amount of damage and the amount of diminished value, the adverse company might be very willing to total the vehicle.
Give them a call.
