Auto Insurance Claims: Insurance Co low-balling me, kelly blue book, kelly blue book value

Question
Good day Richard,
I was in a parking lot and someone backed out of a spot and hit me. A claim was filed with his company. The insurance guy came and looked at my car. He says it is a total loss. The company has offered me $1850. The Kelly Blue Book value is $2300, and the N.A.D.A. is $2100.
I complained about the low offer, and was told to give examples of comparable vehicles in my area that are being sold for more. After 3 days of extensive searching, I had found none. I sent them what I could, along with a note saying that nothing in the area is 'comparable'.
They called again today, and said nothing I sent was comparable (duh). They also said they have contacted some local dealerships and asked what the car would sell for on the lot. They tell me the dealerships would ask even LESS than their offer to me, so I should except their offer of $1850.
I don't believe them. They originally told me the offer has to be a certain percentage lower than Kelly Blue Book because of one of my State's laws. I called them on that, and they had no response. That is when they switched over to the 'we called some local dealerships' offer.
Is there anything else I can do to get a more reasonable amount?
Thanks for your help!!

Answer
Hi Randy,

You are doing everything you can. If your car is hard to find locally, you can expand your search until you find several similar cars.

The difference between what you want and what they are offering is very small ( about $300.00). You could try to ask to speak to the claims manager. Explain the small difference and ask them to meet you in the middle. There's not much else you can do.

I hope this helps
