Auto Insurance Claims: Pain and suffering 8 months pregnant, claim adjuster, ivs

Question
Hi there,

I recently got rear ended, we we're at a stoplight, my boyfriend was driving and a car hit us from behind going Atleast 25mph. Their insurance company took the liability and have since paid for the auto repairs. But at the time of the accident I was 35 weeks and a few days pregnant. I ended up going to the hospital and started having contractions. They kept me over night and I had to be given two doses of a muscle relaxer to stop the contractions. Not to mention all the different Ivs and blood draws. The baby is fine now and my pregnancy is going as smooth as as it was before. But going into labor that early and staying in the hospital overnight was terrible. My question is how much should I ask for pain and suffering?  My claim adjuster said we will go over it together but I want to make sure I have a set amount going into it.

Thank you,
Joy

Answer
First thing - definitely do not settle the claim until the baby is born and found to be healthy.

Once this is the case, let me know the total amount of medical bills related to the accident, as well as a description of any injuries, such as neck/back pain, if more than you were already experiencing.

When you have this information, I can give an estimate.
