Auto Insurance Claims: Auto Shop Parking Lot Collision Hit and Run, electrical problem, insurance info

I dropped my car off at an auto shop to have some electrical problems fixed and someone must have backed into it and ran. They called me up the next day and pretty much tried to get me away from their shop. They had possesion of my keys, and claimed that they wouldn't be able to fix my electrical problem. Am I out a couple thousand or is it the shop's fault? It was on their property.

Hi Chase,

The shop is responsible for the damage. You should demand that they provide you with their insurance info. If they refuse you should file the claim with your insurance company and they will pursue reimbursement from the shop.
