Auto Insurance Claims: Paint on Bumper, car wash, grocery store

I was at a grocery store parking lot and somebody scraped some paint onto my car.  I found a witness that described the vehicle.  I found the person and asked her about giving insurance information and she tole me to call the cops and left.

I read your statement but you did not ask a question so I'll do my best.

If the damage is very minimal and just paint transfer on your bumper, you should go to a car wash to see if they can just buff it off. The process of trying to find this person and make a claim is not worth your time. If the damage is greater than that and if you got the other persons name and or tage number, then you can call the police and thell them that she did a hit and run. Then you can get her insurance info to file a claim.
