Auto Insurance Claims: Motorcycle accident, uninsured motorist insurance, bodily injury liability

Question
First of all, thanks for taking the time to look at my question.

Recently, I was involved in a not-at-fault motorcycle accident where one of my fingers was broken.  I had to have surgery to get it fixed and I just learned the guilty driver had the minimum for medical liability and it won't cover all of my medical bills.  In addition, I'm a student and I have an office job where typing is a necessity.

Will I be responsible for the remainder medical bills, lost productivity, etc?  Also, is there any chance of getting non-economic damages?

I have some uninsured motorist insurance.  When can I use that and for what purposes?

Thank you very much,
Rob

Answer
Hi Rob,
In order to properly answer your question, I need a bit more information.
Please send me a PRIVATE follow-up with the following information:
1.  In what state did the accident happen?
2.  Exactly how much Bodily Injury Liability does the at-fault driver carry?
3.  Exactly how much UNINSURED MOTORIST/UNDERINSURED MOTORIST COVERAGE do you carry?
4.  What is the total amount of your medical bills?
5.  What is the total amount of your wage losses?
6.  Does your doctor feel that you will need any future medical treatment and does he expect that your injury will create a long term disability?
7.  Are your medical bills being paid by coverage from your motorcycle policy, your private health insurance or by the insurance company of the at-fault driver?

The sooner you can get this information to me, the faster I can give you an answer.
Sincerely,
Bennie
