Auto Insurance Claims: Ins claim, state insurance commissioners, accident conditions

Question
Hi  My friend was in an auto accident totaling her SUV in a spinout on ice / snow. The police had no problem with the accident conditions. Thank God she is only bruised. The insurance company said she was covered. But has since changed there mind. There reason is that she moved from Dedham Mass. to Needham Mass. and again to Natick Mass. with out changing her address in a year. Her reason for not filing a address change is, she has a restraining order enforce against a stocker and didn't want to be found via the Internet. Can the insurance company decline a claim for such a reason ?

Answer
Hi Paul,

To the best of my knowledge they can not deny the claim for this. They can charge additional back premium if the area she moved to would have generated a higher premium. To be sure this is accurate you should have her contact your state insurance commissioners office. They would be best able to answer.

I hope this helps
