Auto Insurance Claims: POST REPAIR, original shop, repair estimate

Question
hello,
Hope you can provide me with some advise.
I rearended a truck, my insurance co sent me to their repair facility, after several months and a couple of repair facilities the car STILL HAS PROBLEMS. The original  estimate from the ins co was $5k and an additional $2k were paid to anther facility ON A CAR WORTH $9k !?!
My question is, How can I get a properly repaired car or a replacement?

Answer
Hi Jose,

Once the vehicle has been repaired there is not much chance of it being replaced. If you are concerned about the quality of repairs, you should take the vehicle to a body shop of your choice and pay them to inspect all of the repairs. If they find issues, have them write a re-repair estimate. You would then contact the insurance company and inform them of the issues and the cost of re-repairs. If they try to tell you to take the car back to the original shop for the re-repairs, you should tell them no. The prior shops already had their shot and screwed it up. If the car does need additional re-repairs of a significant amount you may be able to convince the insurance company to total it.

I hope this helps
