Auto Insurance Claims: personal injury claim, health insurance company, personal injury claim

Question
This is in regards to a personal injury claim as it pertains to the medical expenses associated with the injury.  How is this amount calculated when the injured party's health insurance has paid a portion of these bills?  (There is no subrogation in AZ)  Also many of the original expenses were "adjusted" by the health insurance company.  Where do these adjustments fit into the formula?

Answer
Hi Anne,

The total medical expenses should be considered in determining the amount of settlement. Then they would simply deduct the amount that has already been paid by your medical insurance. The amount of medical expenses that should be considered is the adjusted amount that was actually paid.

I hope this helps
