Auto Insurance Claims: car accident question, kelly blue book, maughan

Question
When you are in an accident how does the insurance company decide how much they are willing to pay to the other party if no one was hurt and it was just body damage? also if the kelly blue book price is less than how much it would cost to fix the car will the insurance company just pay that price?

Answer
Hi Crystal-

My understanding is that they will pay for what they could have it fixed for at one of their shops.  I'm pretty sure they have their own chart to determine if it's totaled.  Then they will either give you what they determine it's worth less any applicable deductibles or they may just get another car for you.

By the way - 97% of the people I talk to are grossly underinsured and lack an adequete insurance buying strategy.
