Auto Insurance Claims: Owner and Operator, time drive, report incident

Question
My friend used my car to pick me up from the airport.  I called the insurance company before to find out if she needed to be on my insurance for this one time drive and they said "no" (she is insured through her own company).  On the way to the airport she was in a traffic accident (without me in the car) where she tapped the car in front of her.  Through procedure and to check for any damage both cars proceeded to turn on their hazards and move into the emergency lane.  As my friend moved my car into the emergency lane another car sideswiped my car in the rear.  How will the insurance companies file this claim? Will my insurance rates increase since I was not the operator of the car at the time?  Will my insurance have to cover the rear sideswipe or will the other car be found at fault?  (The bumper tap had little if any damage, maybe some scrapes).  There was a police report incident filled out at the scene of the accident.

Answer
Hi Andrea,

There is no way to tell you how it will be handled. There are too many othe facts that need to be determined first. Your insurance rates will likely increase if your insurance company pays out on a claim. As for the rear damage, only a complete investiagtion of the incident will determine who is liable. Your insurance company will take recorded statements from all parties involved and then will make that determination.

I hope this helps
