Question
my 2001 daewoo nubria was totaled due to hail damage in march, there was alittle still owed on the car so the insurance company paid the car off in april and the title according to the bank was mailed to the insurance adjuster in april, will he keep the title or will the title be made over to reflect the salvage title and mailed to me ? i have tried calling the insurance adjuster but keep getting his voicemail, how does this usally work, we kept the vehicle and we are driving it but it is due to be inspected and have not received the notice for the sticker yet.we live in NC

Answer
Hi Ernestine,

The title will be made a salvage title in the insurance companies name. They will then sign the title over to you. You will then have to have the vehicle repaired and present it to a state inspector to certifiy it as road worthy. Then you will be able to retitled the car back into your name. The title will alwas have a salvage sticker or rebuilt sticker on it.  This whole process could take several months.

You should call the insurance company and demand to speak to a manager. Ask them where your title is in the process and when you can expect toget it. In the mean time you should be aware that you are driving the car illegally. The car was technically sold to the insurance company and is not legal to drive untile you get the title transfered back into your name.

I hope this helps
