Auto Insurance Claims: Unisured car, collision coverage, personal vehicle

Question
Hello.  I was driving a friend’s car and backed into a poll causing a good amount of damage.  I have full coverage on my personal vehicle (Colorado), but come to find out my friend has no insurance at all on his vehicle (the vehicle I backed into the poll).  Will my insurance policy cover the damage to my friend’s car?  Thanks!

Answer
Hi Shea.  I cannot speak for CO policies but can tell you how it would work in my state of GA.

If you carry collision coverage on you own vehicle, are driving someone else's vehicle with permission and it turns out that there is no applicable coverage on said vehicle, then your policy would cover the loss less the applicable deductible.

Good luck!
