Auto Insurance Claims: Engine failure., mechanical failure, engine failure

Question
Hello.  I have a very simple question.  I own a 2000 Boxster 2.7L. There is no warranty on the car and my engine has failed due to mechanical failure not an accident.
The cost of replacement is $18,000 in total including labour, parts etc.
Is there a way I can get my insurance company to assist in the cost of the repairs?
If so, whats the process?

Thank you sincerely.

Answer
Insurance would not cover this and any attempts to change the facts of loss on an $18,000 claim would be a felony in any state.  As you could not file such a claim without a telephone, postage stamp or Internet, it is also a federal crime.

Considering how many Boxsters that people wipe out, I'm sure that there are plenty of used engines for far less than $18,000.

Good luck!
