Auto Insurance Claims: reinbursment for rental?, insurance name, company requests

Question
I was rear ended last week. Other driver admitted fault at scene. I made a claim with my insurance co. They sent a check to me minus the deductable. I also rented a car in which my insurance covers $20 a day. The rent a car is $30 a day. After I received police report with the other drivers insurance name I called rent a car co. so they could bill the $10 remaing balance a day to the other drivers insurance co. They told me It would go on my credit card and I would have to seek reinbursment. How do I go about this? Should I call the other drivers insurance co? Why should I be charged at all? and what happens to the deductible my insurance subtracted from my estimate?

Answer
Hi Michele,

Yes this is correct.  You will have to pay the difference and then send the final bill to your insurance company. When your insurance company requests reimbursement for the money theyt paid out, they will also request the difference in your rental cost as well as your deductible.  When they receive payment your insurance company will then send you a check for the difference in the rental cost and your deductible. The whole process can take upto 6 months.

I hope this helps
