Auto Insurance Claims: Missing payment, still covered?, georgia insurance commissioners office, martin l king jr

Question
Thank you for your service.  We live in Georgia.  Our auto insurance was due to expire on 5-2-07.  My wife sent a payment online with our bank on 4-24-07, but some how she put the wrong address in the system, correct name, phone number and account number, and we did have the money in the account to cover the check.  My wife got into a car accident on 5-5-07.  I filed a claim on 5-6-07.  They told me they did not receive payment, and that is when the wrong address problem was discovered.  The insurance company told me my policy would be fine if the payment was postmarked prior to 5-2-07, but they could not tell me if this is still true if it was mailed to the wrong address.  Also the insurance company told me that by Georgia law if a payment was made up to 5 days after the cancellation of the policy, the policy can be reinstated, but they could not tell me if during those 5 days a claim would be covered.  I made my insurance payment on 5-6-07, and the online check is still missing.  Is my wife covered on her auto accident on 5-5-07?
