Auto Insurance Claims: Claim to my insurance for other partys hit-and-run., property damage coverage, uninsured motorist coverage

Question
Dear Webfoot:
I got involved in an accident while the other party ran red, hit my car, and then ran away. It was at 11;30 last Friday night and neither me or several witnesses could provide information for locating that vehicle. I have liability insurance with uninsured motorist coverage and property damage coverage when the other party is under- or not-insured. My car was severely damaged as there is dent in rear door, bent hood and left fender, and both air bags came out. It is a 99 Dodge Stratus, and I do not think it is worthwhile to repair. In my case, will my insurance company reimburse me something for that car? Will my premium go up as a result?
Thank you very much!

Answer
From what you've told me, this would be eligible for coverage under your uninsured motorist property damage, less the applicable deductible.  The vehicle is most likely a total loss and you should be paid the actual cash value before the loss.  Only your agent can tell you if your rates will go up as every state and company are different.
Good luck!
