Auto Insurance Claims: insurance record, auto insurance company, insurance record

Question
If I am in an accident and there is a police report filed, will my auto insurance
company find out about the accident and raise my insurance rates?

Answer
You are legally required per the terms of the insurance contract that you agreed to, to report all accidents to your insurance company.  If there is no claim paid, than there shouldn't be a rate issue.  Timely reporting is necessary to your insurance company can have the opportunity to investigate the claim to insure that your interest is protected.  This is what you pay premiums for.

If you don't report and then later down the road, something goes wrong, your company can deny coverage for your failure to report in a timely manner.
