Auto Insurance Claims: Teenage Driver, going away to college, teenage driver

Question
Hello--I have a question regarding my daughter who will be 18 in May. She is currently living with me but will be going away to college this fall. We live in Pennsylvania and she is currently under my insurance (expensive!!)
My question is would it be wiser (and more cost effective)to have a separate policy in her name or keep her on my policy? She will be in college for at least 4 years.
I'm looking for the least expensive option. Thank you for your time!!

Answer
Hi Kyle,

Unfortunately, insuring a teenager is expensive no matter what you do.  You should shop around for a policy in the state she will be going to college. Also check with your own insurer on rates when she goes to college. The best thing would be to put the car & the insurance in her name only if possible. They way you can't be held liable if an accident should occur.

I hope this helps
